The Internet has been rapidly growing since it first became commercialized in the 1990's. Many companies are embracing the Internet, as it can provide a cheap and easy way to operate their business. As we transition from traditional brick and mortar businesses to e-businesses, or even national businesses that we can only judge from a website, the consumer and provider relationship must change as well. Unfortunately, while the Internet has innumerable benefits, it also has some downsides. One of these is that the Internet does not always differentiate between reality and a mirage. Many consumers have heard horror stories of others being scammed or tricked over the Internet, and some may have even been victims themselves.
